Use this interactive demo to learn how to set up a Rollup field in your Airtable table.

Quick summary

The Airtable Rollup field lets you aggregate data from a linked table using functions like SUM, COUNT, or CONCATENATE — all without writing code. Setting up a Rollup in Airtable takes under a minute and surfaces cross-table insights directly in your base.

Steps

  1. Click the Add icon to create a new field in your Airtable table.
  2. Enter your desired field name into the provided input field.
  3. Search for Rollup and select it as the field type.
  4. Choose a specific field in the current table to use as the Rollup source.
  5. Select the field in the linked table that you want to roll up with the nominated source.
  6. Enter the Rollup function you want to apply (e.g. SUM, COUNT, CONCATENATE).
  7. Click Create Field to save your changes and activate the Rollup in your table.

📌 Why this matters

Airtable's Rollup field is a powerful way to aggregate and summarize data across linked tables — enabling teams to calculate totals, counts, and combined values without duplicating records or switching tools. It eliminates manual data consolidation, reducing errors and saving time for operations, project management, and data teams. By surfacing cross-table insights directly inside your Airtable base, Rollup fields make it easier to build dynamic dashboards, track KPIs, and maintain a single source of truth across your entire workflow.
